Legacy sodium lamps are energy-intensive and have poor color rendering. Modernization is not only about savings — but also pedestrian and driver safety.
| Parameter | Legacy sodium | New LED |
|---|---|---|
| Energy use | High (100%) | Lower (30–50%) |
| Lifetime | ~16,000 h | up to 100,000 h |
| Color rendering (CRI) | Poor (orange) | Better colors (Ra > 70) |
| Dimming | Hard / impossible | Smooth control |
Public lighting depends on details you don’t see at first glance. Not just “to shine”, but correct optics and aiming, healthy switchboards, working surge protection, reliable joints and cabling — and serviceability years later.
We build, reconstruct and modernize public lighting for municipalities, cities, sites and roads. When switchboards, feeders, earthing or repeated cable faults matter, we treat it as one system — that’s where outages and hidden costs usually come from.
The goal is simple: fewer failures, lower operating costs, better visibility and a clean handover with documentation and inspection.
We typically solve
Simple and controlled. The goal is fast delivery and a clean handover.
We review the area, risk locations and the condition of the system (luminaires, poles, switchboards, cabling). We agree the target lighting standard, municipality priorities and schedule considering traffic and public operation.
We prepare an overview of light points and key parameters (luminaire types, wattages, switching, defects). You know exactly what will be replaced and what must be repaired for reliable operation.
We select luminaires and optics by road type and locality. We define a reasonable lighting level, reduce glare and spill light outside communications. We prepare variants and choose the most economical solution.
We perform removals/installs, necessary cable repairs and modifications of street-lighting switchboards (protection, switching, surge protection). We work safely, cleanly and with minimal disruption to public operation.
We verify functionality and installation parameters. We ensure initial inspection (where applicable) and prepare complete handover materials so everything is defensible and risk-free for operation and checks.
We hand over as-built documentation, switchboard overview and service recommendations. Then we provide repairs, maintenance and preventive checks — for stable operation without repeated outages.

Municipal lighting replacement (project example).
It’s not only a luminaire replacement. We typically also address street-lighting switchboards (protection, switching, surge protection), cabling and joints, the technical condition of poles and the optimization of luminaire layout so the result is safe, uniform and reliable long-term.
We start with a site survey and an assessment of the network’s condition. Then we design the technical solution (luminaires, optics, switchboards), prepare a schedule and coordinate works. After installation we carry out measurements, initial inspection (where applicable), hand over as-built documentation and agree on a service regime.
Savings depend on the current technology, the number of light points and the condition of the system. When switching from older technologies to LED, municipalities typically achieve significant energy savings while also reducing failure rates and maintenance costs thanks to longer lifetime and stable luminaire parameters.
A simple luminaire swap can work, but often it only ‘covers’ the real issue. If weak switching, a non-compliant switchboard, bad joints or missing surge protection remain, faults come back. A system approach improves reliability and safety and lowers total cost of ownership.
Yes. An asset register is the foundation for good decisions and project economics. You’ll get a clear overview of luminaire types and wattages, consumption, switching method, switchboard condition and critical points. That enables better planning, more accurate savings estimates and a realistic maintenance plan.
We base the design on lighting requirements and real practice for roads, sidewalks and risk locations. We control uniformity, glare limitation and select the right lighting class for the area. After installation we provide measurements and initial inspection so everything is defensible and compliant.
Optics and aiming are key: light where it’s needed — not onto façades, windows or the sky. We use suitable photometric distributions, correct mounting height/tilt and sensitive intensity settings for each location. The result is better visibility and less intrusive spill light.
Yes. We can take over an existing network — from fault diagnostics through repairs of luminaires, cabling and switchboards to ongoing maintenance. We set a service regime so faults are resolved quickly and the municipality doesn’t operate in constant ‘emergency mode’.
Typically: overvoltage (storms), degraded joints, switchboard faults, incorrect protection or aged cabling. Prevention is proper surge protection, correct circuit protection, terminal checks, inspections and regular maintenance. Modernizations often reveal hidden issues that used to cause repeated outages.
Subsidy calls appear over time and conditions change by program. It’s best to have an inventory/asset register, a clearly defined scope, and documents for savings and parameters (lighting design, calculations, technical report). We help with the technical part and documentation so you have strong inputs for the application and later implementation — regardless of whether a specific call is currently open.
